Officially listed by Washington as a “terrorist” organization, Lebanon’s Hezbollah, a Shiite political party with a paramilitary wing armed in part by Iran, is regarded as a national security threat to both Israel and the U.S. Yet according to the Council on Foreign Relations, Hezbollah is known locally for operating a “vast network of social services” including health-care facilities, schools, youth programs and infrastructure benefiting “Shiite and non-Shiite Lebanese alike.”
Hezbollah militias, of course, supported Hamas after Oct 7 by launching missiles into northern Israel to counter Israel’s US-backed genocidal campaign against Palestinians in Gaza. In response, Israel launched air and ground operations against Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon in Sept-Oct 2024, when it also conducted exploding ‘pager’ attacks against Hezbollah civilians and assassinated Hezbollah’s longtime leader, Hassan Nasrallah, along with several deputy commanders.
A ceasefire, imposed in Nov 2024, was fully honored by Hezbollah – but not by Israel. Only in Feb 2026 did Hezbollah resume militancy when it joined Iran in countering the US and Israeli-initiated aggression. Israel, in turn, escalated its air and ground invasions across south Lebanon and at sites further north, demolishing villages and displacing one million. On April 8, Israel launched an especially savage bombing campaign also targeting Beirut, causing massive casualties. Is Hezbollah finally being neutralized?
–1) Chris Hedges with Laith Marouf: The “end” of Western hegemony? A Sunni Muslim of Palestinian and Syrian heritage and founder of Free Palestine TV based in Lebanon, Marouf has broad knowledge of “Axis of Resistance” fighters throughout the region, including Hezbollah and its history of defending Lebanon from US-backed Zionist aggression.

–2) Jon Elmer of Electronic Intifada tracks Hezbollah’s “existential” battles against the IDF. Here he features Hezbollah-supplied footage showing fighters using drones todestroy Israeli tanks while also launching ‘makeshift’ rockets aimed at sites in Israel.

–3) SHORT ARTICLE: Robert Inlakesh on U.S. backing of an Israel-friendly, ‘puppet’ government (and army) in Lebanon, bringing Joseph Aoun (president) and Nawaf Salam (prime minister) to power, both committed to “disarming” Hezbollah – and potentially igniting “civil war.” So far, however, Lebanon’s army chief is refusing to bend to the puppet masters.
–4) LONG ARTICLE: Kit Klarenberg, ‘Collapsing Empire: Hezbollah crushes ‘Greater Israel’ on Israel’s long-standing goal to annex southern Lebanon (confirmed by U.S. Intelligence in the 1980s) and Hezbollah’s role in thwarting that goal. He also reports on the failure of Syria’s new president Ahmed al-Sharaa (a former Al Qaeda terrorist) to take on Hezbollah at Syria’s western border, disappointing the British MI6 handlers who “installed” him in power. (Syria’s ousted president, Bashar al-Assad, allied with Hezbollah.)

–5) And if there are signs that the “Axis of Resistance” is still holding up, we must mourn the loss of yet anotherLebanese journalist, Amal Khalil – killed while covering Israeli bombardment in south Lebanon. This was after she received threats from Israeli Mossad officials ordering her to “leave” the region. A photojournalist who accompanied her was also targeted but survived.
