2026 MIDTERM ELECTIONS: A Sobering Analysis of the Most Driving and Divisive Impetus

An Essay on the Midterm Election Realignment

Renee Parsons

As the mid term elections are imminent, considerable debate is centered around  election results including whether the Uniparty will dissolve after having shared their mutual support of AIPAC and its campaign funds.

What has not received its deserved attention is how deep and penetrating the political realignment will occur – most importantly, whether the GOP as a political party survive sufficiently to be considered a full activated partisan option to compete with the Democrats.

How such a realignment may adversely affect the quality of AIPAC checks is yet to be determined.

Political realignments are not an uncommon events in American politics.   Some of the most infamous include FDR’s 1930 election after the Great Depression initiating  the New Deal and Social Security while creating the modern day Democratic party.  The 1948’s election saw Dixiecrats leave the Dems while Eisenhower’s moderate GOP in 1950 accepted FDR’s New Deal mandate and led to construction of the national interstate highway system.  JFK’s 1960 election brought in a WW II vet and adoption of Medicare.

LBJ’s 1964 election adopted the Great Society with the  Civil Rights Act as Reagan’s 1980 election energized the GOP base and supply side economics with limited government adopting “Let’s Make America Great Again’ motto while coordinating politics with the religious right and conservative Christian movement.

The question remains how many and which House seats will the Democrats add to complete their political command of the legislative process.

There are 435 Members of the US House of Representatives with an election conducted every two years for all House Members; the current breakdown is  218 GOP majority, 214 Democrats and 1 Independent.

In other words, the GOP can lose only a handful of Members before the balance will shift to the Democrats.

As an extra bonus and a previously unexpected element, the question of how many Senate seats will be wrested from a mediocre GOP to form a Democratic majority remains in question.  The predetermined math indicates a flip of a mere four Senate seats will culminate in a Democratic Senate.

Currently, there are 53 GOP Senators, 45 Democrats and two Independents with 35 Senate seats up for 2026 re election:  the current electoral balance of 13 Democrats and 22 Republicans indicates that the GOP have the most to lose.

In other words, with the entire House membership up for re election there is a considerable political realignment in the wings awaiting American voters to push the levers, fill out the ballot and launch what promises to be a repudiation of the Trump Presidency.

That repudiation may include Trump’s tight relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and a tightly knit financial and military obligation to Israel as ‘our best ally.’

Most recently, that relationship has cost American taxpayers a $659 Million transfer of 22,000 bombs to Israel from US weapon stock including  $740 million for armored personnel carriers, $1.98 billion for tactical vehicles and accessories, $3.8 billion for attack helicopters and related weaponry, and $150 million for utility helicopters and parts.

In addition, Israel’s regular annual  miliary aid from US taxpayer is $3.3 Billion while today’s US debt stands at $40 Trillion, lacking any serious Trump Administration or Congressional effort to resolve a grow insoluble amount.

Prior to President Donald Trump’s 2024 election, the domineering force of Israel on American politics and  APAC’s exchange for votes affecting a majority of Members of the US Congress was indisputable.

One need only monitor roll call votes in either house of Congress to confirm the exploitation of historic American institutions on any legislative option favorable to the Zionists – although until recently, the American public remained less well informed regarding the depth and total domination exerted by the Zionist Israel government.

Rep. Tom Massie’s (R-Ky) recent amendment to cut $3.3 Billion from the Federal Military Financing Program failed in a 314 – 104 (ten voted Present) indicative of a new surge of Democratic votes against funding Israel;  Massie was the lone GOP vote to support the amendment.

Today, thanks to Israel’s unabashed display of overt genocide on the Palestinian population in Gaza, a significant portion of the American population have awakened and found the images to be reprehensible, unacceptable and unAmerican – except for President Trump who has provided the necessary weapons to conduct the slaughter of Palestinian children and their families.

Lest this essay be dismissed as antisemitic rhetoric, it is essential to acknowledge that there are Americans who practice Judaism as a religion, who remain alienated from their Zionists relations and who are as horrified as other Americans at the visions coming out of Gaza, the West Bank and southern Lebanon on a daily basis.

It is worth mentioning that secular Jews, especially in NYC which is home to the largest urban Jewish community in the world, rejected the Zionist cause with the 2003 founding of the Torah Jews as seen on a Times Square “Zionism is  not Judaism” Billboard.

It would be remiss to not mention that this Essay should not be considered a tacit endorsement of the Democratic party which has failed to assert itself with regard to multiple Trump wars being conducted, illegal immigrants enjoying Federal government freebies in exchange for their votes rather than pursuit of American citizenship or threats to the First Amendment and other Constitutional protections that are in jeopardy.

“Will a deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before, or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic, and do it quickly, never giving them a chance to kill and destroy people and countries again?

Do I drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future greatness or generations? “  President Donald Trump addressing the United Nations General Assembly, September 22, 2026
