Kemi Badenoch accused Sir Keir Starmer of colluding in a cover-up of rape gangs as she demanded a national inquiry into the child grooming scandal.

At Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday, she said at least 50 towns were affected but the Government was doing nothing.

The Conservative leader said: “At least 50 towns are affected by rape gangs, places like Peterborough, Derby, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Rotherham, Rochdale and Preston.

“Is he dragging his heels on this because he doesn’t want Labour cover ups exposed?”

But a furious Sir Keir Starmer claimed Conservatives had failed to tackle the issue when in power. And as tensions ran high, a Labour backbencher called Mrs Badenoch “a disgrace”.

The PMQs clash comes the day before the local elections where Nigel Farage‘s Reform UK is expected to perform well.
