India’s main opposition party has questioned the government’s stance on the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in attacks by the US and Israel.
Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, the lower House of Parliament, asked whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi endorses the assassination of Khamenei.
New Delhi has refrained from commenting on the death of the Iranian supreme leader, though Modi and the Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the escalation of violence in the Middle East in the aftermath of the attack.
“PM Modi must speak up. Does he support the assassination of a head of state as a way to define the world order? Silence now diminishes India’s standing in the world,” Gandhi posted on X.
