What happens when a prosecutor loses sight of justice?
Submitted by Austin and Cici Sachs
Across the country, prosecutors are entrusted with one of the most sacred duties in our justice system: to protect their communities and pursue truth, not convictions at any cost. But what happens when that power is abused? When a prosecutor becomes more interested in winning than in what’s right?
This is exactly what’s unfolding in Clark County, Nevada, where prosecutor Dena Rinetti is pursuing unfounded felony charges against innocent parents whose “crime” was exercising their right under NRS 200.5085 to pursue non-medical remedial care after their son was injured due to medical negligence that has gone entirely unpunished. Instead of investigating the real issue, iatrogenic gadolinium poisoning caused by hospital error, Ms. Rinetti has chosen to weaponize her office, delaying justice and causing irreparable damage to a family already in crisis.
In January, the father’s court appointed attorney named Dr. Richard Semelka, the world’s leading expert on gadolinium toxicity, to testify in the parents’ defense. One day later, the prosecutor filed a motion for continuance, delaying the trial for months. In response, the father filed a 43-page counter-affidavit that exposes the unethical behavior behind this maneuver—a document we are now making public to inform others and protect families across the country.
We urge all parents, concerned citizens, and advocates for fair trials to read this document. It paints a stark, factual picture of how unchecked prosecutorial power can be misused and why this specific prosecutor should not be entrusted with judicial office.

The trial is currently scheduled to begin on September 16th.
This case isn’t just about one family, it’s about holding our legal system accountable. It’s about standing up to institutions that would rather silence the truth than correct their mistakes.
