The Pensacola area saw an unprecedented amount of snow Tuesday, shutting down schools, roads and businesses throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and breaking a 130-year record.
The band of snow over the western Florida Panhandle dropped 8.8 inches of snow in Milton, Florida, and in Damascus, Alabama, about 12 miles north of the Florida border, the weather service office in Mobile, Alabama said Tuesday night. In Pensacola, the official snow measurement at 6 p.m. on Tuesday was 7.6 inches as snow continued to fall.
