Prosecutors say the brothers were also working together to use their status to run a sex-trafficking scheme to drug, violently assault and rape dozens of women.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">The two men, along with a third brother Alon, used the lure of luxury hotels and trips to vacation properties to entice women to isolated locations where they were gang raped, sometimes by more than one of the brothers, according to an indictment by a grand jury that was unsealed Wednesday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall css-1u1nl00-PaywalledContentContainer e1qcjy9n0\">\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">The brothers were arrested Wednesday in Florida and are expected to be extradited to New York to face sex-trafficking charges. Tal appeared in federal court in Miami on Wednesday; his brothers were in state custody. Tal walked into the courtroom with his hands and feet in shackles, wearing a gray sweater and sneakers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">U.S. Attorney\u00a0Damian Williams\u00a0said prosecutors interviewed\u00a0<a class=\"css-1h1us5y-StyledLink el06won0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/us-news\/law\/luxury-real-estate-world-rocked-by-rape-allegations-against-star-broker-db3feb17?mod=article_inline&amp;mod=article_inline\" rel=\"\" data-type=\"link\">dozens of women who said they were assaulted<\/a>\u00a0by one or more of the brothers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cThis conduct, as alleged, was heinous,\u201d said Williams, the chief federal law-enforcement officer for the Southern District of New York. \u201cWe are committed to prosecuting sex trafficking no matter how powerful or wealthy or famous you may be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">At a press conference in New York, Williams said the brothers weren\u2019t acting alone but declined to comment on whether anyone else was under investigation. He reiterated the call for more victims to come forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">Standing outside the courtroom in Miami, Joel Denaro, an attorney temporarily representing the three brothers, said his clients were facing three sex-trafficking-related charges. Soon after, a magistrate judge read out three counts against Tal. The other two brothers will likely appear in state court on Thursday, Denaro said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">The Wall Street Journal reported in July that the\u00a0<a class=\"css-1h1us5y-StyledLink el06won0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/us-news\/fbi-probing-rape-allegations-against-star-real-estate-brokers-482fbab9?mod=article_inline\" rel=\"\" data-type=\"link\">Federal Bureau of Investigation was investigating<\/a>\u00a0the brothers after three women filed lawsuits against them and several others told the Journal they were sexually assault or raped by the brothers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">Prosecutors claim the men from around 2010 until 2021 used their prominent positions in real estate to meet women whom they later sexually assaulted, according to the indictment. The men\u2014to impair the women\u2014would sometimes secretly spike their drinks and give them cocaine, mushrooms and GHB, according to the indictment. Allegations by women against the three men sent shock waves through the luxury real-estate world. A spokesman for Douglas Elliman declined to comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">The arrests follow lawsuits filed by two women in March that accused Oren and his twin brother, Alon, 37 years old, of rape. A subsequent lawsuit\u2014and accounts by women shared with the Journal\u2014contained similar allegations against\u00a0Tal Alexander, 38.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">The men have denied the allegations, and their lawyers have said the civil suits were without merit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">The FBI had reached out to some women and their lawyers in recent weeks to see if the women would testify, some of the women said. But the brothers seemed to go about their lives. All three attended a Miami Dolphins game with their father, a prominent Miami businessman. Alon was spotted golfing in Miami in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">The assertions had swirled around the three brothers for roughly two decades,\u00a0<a class=\"css-1h1us5y-StyledLink el06won0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/us-news\/law\/sexual-assault-allegations-oren-tal-alexander-caught-attention-15d8c58f?mod=article_inline\" rel=\"\" data-type=\"link\">a Journal investigation showed<\/a>, starting when they were high-school students in Miami and later in New York as Oren\u2019s and Tal\u2019s careers took off at\u00a0<a class=\"css-1h1us5y-StyledLink el06won0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/market-data\/quotes\/DOUG?mod=article_inline\" rel=\"\" data-type=\"link\">Douglas Elliman<\/a>, the large brokerage known for its association with hit reality shows like \u201cMillion Dollar Listing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">There has been a mass exodus of executives and agents from Official, the real-estate company they co-founded, in the wake of the allegations. Alon has been an executive at the family\u2019s private security firm Kent Security but his name is no longer listed on the company\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" data-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cWe are glad to hear that there will finally be some measure of accountability for the Alexander brothers and justice for their many victims,\u201d said David E.
