President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0had another busy day on\u00a0Truth Social<\/a>\u00a0Monday, notably\u00a0ranting about opposition to AI and data centers<\/a>, which has inspired fresh calls for his removal from office under the\u00a025th Amendment<\/a>.<\/p>\n Responding to\u00a0whistleblower warnings<\/a>\u00a0about the existential threat posed by the unchecked evolution of\u00a0artificial intelligence<\/a>, Trump wrote: \u201cThe only control or \u2018guardrails\u2019 that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!\u201d<\/p>\n He also suggested a \u201cSICK conspiracy\u201d is being waged against the technology by a group of \u201cConspiracy Theorists, Treasonists, Traitors, and Leakers,\u201d without explaining to whom he was referring and without acknowledging that industry leaders including Sam Altman, Elon Musk and Dario Amodei have\u00a0conceded the need for a slowdown<\/a>\u00a0in the interests of safety.<\/p>\n Trump also reiterated the argument he made last week against\u00a0allowing China to steal a march<\/a>\u00a0on the U.S. and \u201cwin\u201d the sector.<\/p>\n A further five posts about the AI \u201cHOAX\u201d followed, along with others blaming high gas prices on Russia\u2019s war with Ukraine and Joe Biden, but not\u00a0his war with Iran<\/a>, which has seen the Strait of Hormuz blockaded and global oil shipping badly disrupted as a result.<\/p>\n The president also used his platform to insist there was no U.S. missile shortage \u2013 contrary to the conclusions reached by a\u00a0new report<\/a>\u00a0from the Department of Defense\u2019s inspector general \u2013 insist his\u00a0$5,000 \u201cTrump Dividend\u201d<\/a> rewarding midterms voters for backing Republicans \u201cwill happen\u201d and to hail his new White House helipad and last week\u2019s GOP convention in Texas.<\/p>\n There was also an attack on Bush-era Republican strategist Karl Rove, whom Trump called \u201cso bad for the Republican Party, and completely wrong so often,\u201d asking: \u201cWhy does FoxNews and the WSJ keep his RINO Voice alive. The guy is a stone cold loser!\u201d<\/p>\n The president\u2019s posting sprees frequently invite a backlash from anti-Trump pundits. Ex-White House deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews last week likened the run of memes he posted over the Labor Day weekend to\u00a0\u201cwatching his brain rot in real time.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n His actions also frequently inspire calls from disapproving liberals for his\u00a0removal under 25th Amendment to the Constitution<\/a>, which would require Vice President JD Vance and a majority of Trump\u2019s 16-member Cabinet to jointly agree that \u201cthe president is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office,\u201d an unlikely prospect given the loyalties in play.<\/p>\n That did not deter MeidasTouch\u2019s Ben Meiselas from renewing the appeal in response to the president\u2019s refusal to engage with the concerns raised about AI\u2019s frightening potential.<\/p>\n \u201cIs this not the most ridiculous cr** you\u2019ve ever heard?\u201d Meiselas\u00a0asked<\/a>\u00a0after reading aloud Trump\u2019s posts and accusing him of cautioning against \u201ckilling the golden goose\u201d because he hopes to profit from it.<\/p>\n \u201cCan y\u2019all just impeach and remove and 25th Amendment this guy and throw this criminal in jail where he belongs?\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cMaybe this is why people who have bankrupted most of their businesses should not be in the Oval Office. Maybe this is why people who have been found civilly liable for sexual assault should not be in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is why people who have been found liable for fraud should not be in the Oval Office. So utterly ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n Many others took to X to\u00a0make the same case<\/a>\u00a0in response to Trump\u2019s opposition to regulating AI , including Steve Siebold, president of the International Personal Development Association, who\u00a0declared<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s time to invoke the 25th Amendment and evict Trump from office.\u201d<\/p>\n A damning new poll from the University of Massachusetts Amherst published Monday found that 57 percent of Americans are\u00a0unhappy with the president\u2019s handling of AI<\/a>, with just 23 percent in favor.<\/p>\n
