Conservative podcaster\u00a0Tucker Carlson\u00a0<\/a><\/span>said Friday that\u00a0President Trump\u00a0<\/a><\/span>should be removed from office if he is considering using nuclear weapons first, saying even entertaining the possibility should disqualify a president from serving.<\/p>\n \u201cThe second any president actively considers the first use of nuclear weapons, that person should be removed from office immediately, because that\u2019s got to be the red line, destroying all of humanity with a nuclear strike,\u201d Carlson said.<\/p>\n Carlson made the comments during a conversation with\u00a0Joe Kent,<\/a><\/span>\u00a0the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center who resigned earlier this year in opposition to the war with Iran.<\/p>\n Carlson, who noted that he strongly opposed both efforts to impeach Trump during his first term, questioned why the same standard would not apply if a president were weighing a nuclear first strike.<\/p>\n \u201cWhy isn\u2019t there an attempt to remove him from office, like, immediately?\u201d Carlson said. \u201cAnyone who would even tolerate that kind of talk from any of his subordinates or employees is by definition unfit.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump has not publicly said he is considering using a nuclear weapon first.<\/p>\n Carlson\u2019s comments come as he raised concerns about both the administration\u2019s approach to Iran and a nuclear strategy being developed at the Pentagon.<\/p>\n Elbridge Colby, the undersecretary of defense for policy, earlier this month said at a conference that officials are looking to give the president and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth \u201ccredible, rational nuclear options.\u201d<\/p>\n Kent said he was concerned about where the administration could turn if conventional military options fail to get the outcome Trump wants in Iran.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we would be fools to think that this couldn\u2019t happen here in this current scenario, especially as the administration scrambles for a way out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Trump and Carlson, who was once an ally of the MAGA movement and of Trump, have clashed in recent months over their opposing views on foreign policy, with Carlson being a vocal opponent of the Iran war.<\/p>\n Trump last week\u00a0bashed Carlson<\/a>\u00a0on Truth Social, calling him a \u201closer\u201d for meeting with Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).<\/p>\n
