Far-right Israeli cabinet members and lawmakers wore golden, noose-shaped lapel pins to symbolize their support for a controversial bill introducing the death penalty for convicted terrorists. The pins were intentionally designed to resemble the yellow ribbon pins worn by officials in solidarity with hostages.<\/p>\n

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and members of his Otzma Yehudit party wore the pins during parliamentary hearings to promote the legislation, which mandated the death penalty (primarily by hanging) for Palestinians convicted of killing Israelis.<\/p>\n

The visual gesture sparked significant domestic and international backlash. Critics, including opposition leaders, described the noose pins as a “cheap provocation” that tarnished Israel’s global reputation, while human rights groups condemned the legislation for its unequal application.<\/p>\n
