Iranian negotiators stormed out\u00a0of the high-level peace talks with the US<\/a>\u00a0in Switzerland on Sunday, and refused to take part in a photo-op with Vice President JD Vance, after a frustrated President Trump unleashed his fury on the regime \u2014 threatening to seize the Strait of Hormuz and \u201cblow the s\u2013t out of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The talks were abandoned after just 80 minutes when the discussions entered a \u201cdifficult phase\u201d following \u201can insulting message by the US president,\u201d the country\u2019s state news agency reported.<\/p>\n

Vance, who was spearheading the negotiations, had earlier said the US hoped to \u201cturn over a new leaf\u201d with the Islamic Republic.<\/p>\n

The talks in the Qatari-owned mountaintop resort of Buergenstock in Switzerland were the first to be held under the terms \u200cof a\u00a0memorandum of understanding<\/a>\u00a0(MOU) agreed a week ago.<\/p>\n

But hopes of progress were swiftly dashed, and the diplomatic efforts were cut off when Trump, who had been criticized for being too soft on the regime with the MOU, warned that the US would hammer Iran if it didn\u2019t open the Strait of Hormuz and rein in its terrorist proxies.<\/p>\n
