Billionaire investor Peter Thiel reportedly moved his family from the US to Argentina\u2019s capital Buenos Aires as a refuge from\u00a0high taxes<\/a>, political turmoil and potential catastrophes like nuclear war and an AI meltdown.<\/p>\n

The PayPal co-founder and longtime Silicon Valley power player has met privately with Argentine President Javier Milei,\u00a0purchased a mansion in one of Buenos Aires\u2019 most exclusive neighborhoods<\/a>\u00a0and temporarily relocated his family to the South American nation,\u00a0according to the New York Times.<\/a><\/p>\n

Peter Thiel has reportedly relocated his family to Buenos Aires as he weighs Argentina as a potential \u201cPlan B\u201d amid concerns ranging from high taxes to nuclear war and artificial intelligence. REUTERS<\/span><\/h5>\n

Sources told the paper that Thiel made the move due to concerns about the political direction of the US, especially in California, where over half of voters support\u00a0a proposed wealth tax on billionaires.<\/a><\/p>\n

The investor became more interested in Argentina as the proposal gained traction and was considering cutting ties with California by the end of last year, the Times reported.<\/p>\n

His private investment firm, Thiel Capital, opened an office in Miami\u2019s Wynwood neighborhood on Dec. 31 as Californians weighed the proposed tax \u2014 which threatened the investor with a whopping, 10-figure tax bill,\u00a0according to Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n
