Courage International AISBL<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>created this petition addressed to European Commission on 04\/14\/2026<\/p>\n Francesca Albanese is trying to stop a genocide. That is her crime.<\/p>\n The United States and Israel are trying to stop\u00a0her<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 by destroying her life, her career, her family, and her voice.<\/p>\n The US has sanctioned UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, 8 ICC judges, 3 court officials, and Palestinian human rights organisations Al-Haq, Al Mezan, and PCHR. The message is chilling: investigate genocide, speak up for international law, and we will destroy your life.\u00a0Under Executive Order 14203, anyone collaborating with the International Criminal Court becomes a target.<\/p>\n Francesca lost her affiliations with Columbia and Georgetown Universities. Her assets were frozen. She cannot access bank accounts, credit cards, or payments anywhere in the world. Even European banks closed the accounts of sanctioned ICC judges \u2013 simply because the US demanded it.<\/p>\n The US government is using Executive Order 14203 to stage a direct assault on international justice. By sanctioning eight of its eighteen judges the US is crippling the ability of the ICC to bring war criminals to justice. By sanctioning the Palestinian civil society organisations that provide evidence to the ICC of Israeli war crimes, the US is obstructing justice and tampering with evidence of war crimes<\/p>\n The EU has the power to stop this.<\/p>\n The EU Blocking Statute (Council Regulation No. 2771\/96) prohibits EU entities from complying with illegal US extraterritorial sanctions. If activated against Executive Order 14203, European banks would be required to continue servicing sanctioned individuals. EU companies could not terminate contracts or freeze assets to appease the US.<\/p>\n But the EU Commission has not acted.<\/p>\n Our campaign has five core objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n We demand that the EU Commission immediately activate the Blocking Statute and update its Annex to include Executive Order 14203. Protect Albanese. Protect ICC judges. Defend international law.<\/p>\n Francesca Albanese reminds us:\u00a0“We citizens have been sleeping for far too long.
