The life and freedom of US journalist Tucker Carlson might be in danger, CIA whistleblower and host of the RT program Deep State John Kiriakou has said.<\/p>\n

Carlson claimed on Saturday that the CIA is preparing a criminal referral against him to the US Justice Department.\u00a0\u201cWhat\u2019s that crime? Well, talking to people in Iran before the war. They read my texts,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said in a video published on X.<\/p>\n

The former Fox News star said that he will\u00a0\u201capparently\u201d<\/em>\u00a0be charged under the Foreign Agents Registration Act. However, he added that he does not\u00a0\u201cexpect this to go anywhere\u201d<\/em>\u00a0because he has\u00a0\u201cnever taken money\u201d<\/em>\u00a0from another country.<\/p>\n

On a new episode of Deep State, which aired the same day and was dedicated to Carlson, Kiriakou said:\u00a0\u201cI have to tell you, I’m genuinely worried for his safety.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cTucker is one of those rare truth tellers. He speaks whatever happens to be on his mind, but it\u2019s always very well thought out. He\u2019s not afraid to call important people on the carpet for things that they\u2019ve said or done,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n

When asked if he believed that Carlson is in danger, Kiriakou\u2019s guest Clayton Morris \u2013 the co-host of Redacted, a program on RT \u2013 replied by saying:\u00a0\u201cI think he wouldn\u2019t admit that. He never likes to have the focus be on him at all.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are some realities here. You have these nut job MAGA influencers, these sort of pro-Israel Zionists, who are basically actively calling for him to be arrested, attacked. And they have platforms. I mean, they\u2019re literally not thrown off of X,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n

Morris, who used to work at Fox News together with Carlson, suggested that the journalist is\u00a0\u201cdoing what he needs to do to protect himself.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure he\u2019s got a wife\u2026 and he\u2019s got people around him who are saying, \u2018Hey, Tucker, I know you don\u2019t like this to be about yourself, but we’re going to protect you,\u2019\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
