Turns out,\u00a0<strong>Jeffrey Epstein was involved&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/HBQe0vwa0AAPDF8_80.jpg?itok=Pl5rCFnC\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/HBQe0vwa0AAPDF8_80.jpg?itok=Pl5rCFnC\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/inline-images\/HBQe0vwa0AAPDF8_80.jpg?itok=Pl5rCFnC\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"200\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"1f0801ec-fe4a-4f2d-9671-933a3ddecf4e\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Newly released Department of Justice documents from the Epstein files have exposed a previously unknown connection between a 2012 White House advance-team scandal in Cartagena, Colombia, and\u00a0<strong>Kathryn Ruemmler<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; the former Obama White House counsel who later became Goldman Sachs\u2019 top lawyer.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Ruemmler\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/political\/goldman-sacks-ruemmler-epstein-scandal-claims-obamas-former-lawyer\">resigned from Goldman<\/a>\u00a0late last week, after the latest Epstein document dump revealed her\u00a0<strong>extensive, affectionate, and years-long correspondence<\/strong>\u00a0with the convicted sex offender. The emails show she called him \u201cUncle Jeffrey,\u201d accepted expensive gifts, and turned to him for advice on sensitive legal and reputational matters &#8211;\u00a0<strong>including how to respond to a 2014 Washington Post\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/aides-despite-denials-knew-of-white-house-tie-to-cartagena-prostitution-scandal\/2014\/10\/08\/5b98dc90-4e7e-11e4-aa5e-7153e466a02d_story.html\">report<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0that accused her of\u00a0<strong>helping suppress evidence of prostitution involving a rich kid White House aide\u00a0<\/strong>whose daddy was a huge Obama donor.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The WaPo report, by all accounts,\u00a0<strong>cost Ruemmler a job as Obama&#8217;s Attorney General<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"auto\">The 2012 Cartagena Prostitution Scandal<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"auto\">In April 2012, ahead of President Obama\u2019s trip to the Summit of the Americas in Cartagena, Colombia, at least 20 Secret Service agents, military personnel, and others were involved in hiring prostitutes. The scandal led to multiple firings and disciplinary actions.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">A lesser-known element involved\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Dach, a 25-year-old Yale Law student and unpaid White House advance-team volunteer<\/strong>\u00a0(son of prominent Democratic donor Leslie Dach). Hotel records obtained by investigators showed a prostitute was checked into Dach\u2019s room at the Hilton Cartagena shortly after midnight on April 3, 2012.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/20221115%20dach_80.jpg?itok=wc5iVU8O\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/20221115%20dach_80.jpg?itok=wc5iVU8O\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/inline-images\/20221115%20dach_80.jpg?itok=wc5iVU8O\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"f9f0ae77-1b39-4664-9f83-8f5c3fd3eb64\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan briefed White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler on the evidence. The White House conducted a review, interviewed advance-team members (including Dach), and publicly declared \u201cno indication of any misconduct\u201d by White House personnel. Dach was later cleared and went on to work at the State Department.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">More recently,\u00a0<strong>Dach was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ctmirror.org\/2025\/06\/02\/johnny-dach-ct-state-car-investigation\/\">found<\/a>\u00a0to have &#8216;chronically violated state rules&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong>in his role as former chief of staff to Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) by using\u00a0<strong>a state vehicle as his personal car for nearly two years<\/strong>\u00a0&#8220;and driving at speeds constituting reckless driving under Connecticut law.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"auto\">The 2014 Washington Post Revival and Ruemmler\u2019s Response<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"auto\">In October 2014, while Ruemmler was in private practice at Latham &amp; Watkins and reportedly under consideration to replace Eric Holder as Attorney General &#8211; WaPo published new details. Reporters Carol D. Leonnig and David Nakamura revealed that<strong>\u00a0the White House had received specific evidence<\/strong>\u00a0(hotel records and witness accounts) implicating a White House advance-team member but had not fully investigated or disclosed it.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">On October 9, 2014, Epstein\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/epstein\/files\/DataSet%2011\/EFTA02391470.pdf\">emailed<\/a>\u00a0Ruemmler: \u201cDoing fine. Was talking to reporters until late in the morning last night. Trying to isolate\/contain wapo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/epstein\/files\/DataSet%2011\/EFTA02391470.pdf\" data-image-external-href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/epstein\/files\/DataSet%2011\/EFTA02391470.pdf\" data-image-href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/epstein\/files\/DataSet%2011\/EFTA02391470.pdf\" data-link-option=\"2\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/inline-images\/HApQhXmagAA4rA__80.jpg?itok=afGzt-BS\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"208\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"733b1fd7-f340-4892-bac9-dde235b7ba31\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">On October 17, 2014, Ruemmler forwarded Epstein\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/epstein\/files\/DataSet%2011\/EFTA02515514.pdf\">a draft of her response<\/a>\u00a0to the Post reporter and asked for his input. In the draft she downplayed the allegations,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/epstein\/files\/DataSet%2011\/EFTA02515587.pdf\">writing<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe whole thing is ridiculous &#8211; they had to obtain the record \u2018under the table\u2019 because the last thing the Hilton wanted to do is to voluntarily give over info implicating the privacy of their guests.
