Shortly after\u00a0Matt Gaetz<\/a>\u00a0withdrew his name from consideration for attorney general on Thursday,\u00a0Fox News<\/a>\u00a0host Harris Faulkner suggested he could be appointed to represent Florida in the U.S.\u00a0Senate<\/a>\u00a0if Senator\u00a0Marco Rubio<\/a>\u00a0is confirmed to serve on President-elect\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>‘s Cabinet.<\/p>\n

Last week, Trump nominated then-U.S. Representative Gaetz to lead the\u00a0Department of Justice<\/a>\u00a0(DOJ), a selection evoking scrutiny from\u00a0Democrats<\/a>\u00a0and some\u00a0Republicans<\/a>. Gaetz, who represented Florida’s 1st Congressional District, resigned from his House seat November 13 following his nomination. At the time, Gaetz said he did not want to serve in the same position during the 119th\u00a0Congress<\/a>.<\/p>\n
