At least eight more countries say the United States has invited them to join\u00a0President Donald Trump\u2019s Board of Peace,<\/a><\/span>\u00a0a new body of world leaders meant to oversee next steps in\u00a0Gaza<\/a><\/span>\u00a0that shows ambitions for a broader mandate in global affairs. Two of the countries, Hungary and Vietnam, said they have accepted.<\/p>\n

A $1 billion contribution secures permanent membership on the Trump-led board instead of a three-year appointment, which has no contribution requirement, according to a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity about the charter, which hasn\u2019t been made public. The official said the money raised would go to rebuilding Gaza.<\/p>\n

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n has accepted an invitation to join the board, Foreign Minister P\u00e9ter Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 told state radio Sunday. Orb\u00e1n is one of Trump\u2019s most ardent supporters in Europe.<\/p>\n
