Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson recounted the story of the death of Jesus yesterday at activist Charlie Kirk\u2019s funeral, drawing accusations that he was promoting the conspiracy theory that Israel was responsible for Kirk\u2019s assassination.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo it\u2019s about 2,000 years ago in Jerusalem, and Jesus shows up and he starts talking about the people in power, and he starts doing the worst thing that you can do, which is telling the truth about people, and they hate it, and they just go bonkers. They hate it, and they become obsessed with making him stop: \u2018This guy\u2019s got to stop talking. We\u2019ve got to shut this guy up,’\u201d Carlson says.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I can just sort of picture the scene in a lamp-lit room with a bunch of guys sitting around eating hummus, thinking about \u2014 what do we do about this guy telling the truth about us? We must make him stop talking. And there\u2019s always one guy with the bright idea, and I can just hear him say, \u2018I\u2019ve got an idea. Why don\u2019t we just kill him? That\u2019ll shut him up, that\u2019ll fix the problem,’\u201d Carlson says.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t work that way. It doesn\u2019t work that way,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n
