Here\u2019s what would have happened had their own plan to circumvent The Electoral College been in place for the 2024 election.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The National Popular Vote Compact\u00a0<\/strong>is an agreement among a group of seventeen (17) US states and the District of Columbia in which they have agreed by law to give away all of their electoral votes to whichever candidate wins the popular vote.<\/p>\n<p>In the most recent presidential election. Trump was quick to win the 270 electoral college votes he needed. More importantly he also won the popular vote \u2013 with 51 percent, over Harris\u2019s 47.5 percent, throwing cold water on any idea that Democrats could repeat their 2016 complaints that he was the less popular choice across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a map that shows President Trump\u2019s popularity over Harris when the National Popular Vote Compact distorts the true outcome of the Electoral College count with Trump crushing Harris 520 to 18:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-31728 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/jameshfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Then-Vote-300x215.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jameshfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Then-Vote-300x215.jpg 300w, https:\/\/jameshfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Then-Vote-1024x733.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/jameshfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Then-Vote-768x549.jpg 768w, https:\/\/jameshfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Then-Vote-400x286.jpg 400w, https:\/\/jameshfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Then-Vote.jpg 1244w\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"431\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>This is the blow out of all blow outs and demonstrates the lunacy of actually implementing the National Popular Vote Compact.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalpopularvote.com\/state-status\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">https:\/\/www.nationalpopularvote.com\/state-status<\/a>, as of April 15, 2024, the National Popular Vote bill has been enacted into law in 18 jurisdictions possessing 209 electoral votes, including<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 small jurisdictions (District of Columbia, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont),<\/li>\n<li>9 medium-sized states (Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington), and<\/li>\n<li>3 big states (California, Illinois, New York).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Unfortunately, according to<a href=\"http:\/\/nationalpopularvote.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u00a0nationalpopularvote.com,\u00a0<\/a>the National Popular Vote bill will only take effect when enacted into law by states possessing 270 electoral votes (a majority of the 538 electoral vote potential). According to the website, the bill will take effect when enacted by states possessing the additional 61 electoral votes needed to reach 270.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3 id=\"page-title\"
