You may find it surprising that the same “ethnic group” that gave us Einstein, Bohr, Feynman, and von Neumann also produced Netanyahu, Sharon, and all the extremists in the IDF, Betar, etc.

\nThey are not the same ethnic group, not the same culture, not the same religiosity, or even the same religion.
\nModern Israel is an imperial colonization project, intended to transfer control of Palestine from the Ottomans to the British, and then to the Israelis as proxies for the United States.
\nThe project was initiated by atheists and secular **** with help from Western imperial forces.
\nIt tolerated religious groups but actively excluded them from power.
\nAs time passed, with demographic changes, immigration (Aliyah), and other social movements, central power was hijacked by sub-groups with few commonalities with the original founders.
\nThe tacit deal with the West was to secure material support in exchange for a physical military presence in the Middle East and to keep the region under strategic containment.
\nNow that the imperial headquarters are in dire straits, some extremist groups are trying to seize the opportunity of a lifetime and emancipate themselves from the West and from the rule of law altogether.
\nThe more pragmatic factions know that Israel cannot survive further military overextension, and that both neighbors and allies, as well as enemies, have had enough.
