Tropical Storm Chantal<\/a>\u00a0has made landfall in\u00a0South Carolina<\/a>\u00a0early Sunday morning as officials warn of flash flooding and “life threatening” surf and rip currents as the storm system moves inland.<\/p>\n

Tropical storm warnings are in effect for portions of the Carolinas, from South Santee River, South Carolina, to Surf City, North Carolina, according to the\u00a0National Hurricane Center<\/a> in Miami.<\/p>\n

It said storm conditions are expected through Sunday morning, and that heavy rainfall across portions of northeastern South Carolina and north Carolina could caused flash flooding.<\/p>\n

\u201cChantal is expected to bring life threatening surf and rip currents along the coast from\u00a0northeastern Florida<\/a>\u00a0to the Mid-Atlantic states during the next day or so,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
