US President Donald Trump has warned that the presumptive Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani, could be arrested if he follows through on his promise to prevent federal officials from enforcing immigration laws in the country\u2019s largest city.<\/p>\n

Uganda-born Mamdani said in his victory speech after the New York City Democratic mayoral primary on Tuesday that he would\u00a0\u201cstop masked ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents from deporting our neighbors.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWell then, we will have to arrest him,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Trump said when asked by journalists about the New York state lawmaker\u2019s pledge later in the day, as he visited the so-called\u00a0\u201cAlligator Alcatraz\u201d<\/em>\u00a0migrant detention center in Florida.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, we do not need a communist in this country, but if we have one, I am going to be watching over him very carefully on behalf of the nation,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the president said, referring to Mamdani.<\/p>\n

Trump also claimed that\u00a0\u201ca lot of people are saying he is here illegally. We are going to look at everything.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
