Suddenly, we were all supposed to forget what happened in Syria. Forget ISIS. Forget al-Qaeda. Forget over a decade of terrorism. Erase it all.<\/p>\n
In place of memory, they handed us a new script: Abu Mohammad al-Julani \u2014 yes, the same guy who founded Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda\u2019s arm in Syria \u2014 is now somehow a “moderate” rebel. A misunderstood reformer. A would-be democrat.<\/p>\n
They painted Julani as a beacon of inclusion who\u2019ll bring peace and pluralism to Syria. This wasn\u2019t just spin. It was full-on psychological warfare.<\/p>\n
Fast forward seven months. What\u2019s left of that fantasy?<\/p>\n
On the ground, Julani’s regime has unleashed ethnic cleansing campaigns \u2014 starting with Syria\u2019s Alawites, labeled guilty by association for sharing the same religious sect as the ousted President Bashar al-Assad. He turned his fury on the Druze next, trying to crush them into oblivion.<\/p>\n
He even took another shot at wiping out the Kurds. But this time, the Kurds were ready \u2014 organized, armed, and unwilling to be driven from their land again.<\/p>\n
With fewer targets left, Julani\u2019s thugs turned inward. Israel rolls into Syrian territory almost daily, but instead of resisting occupation, Julani\u2019s goons were busy inviting Christians to convert or pay Jizyeh<\/em>. Loudspeakers blasted calls to Islam in Christian neighborhoods. Then came the bombs.<\/p>\n They blew up St. Elias Church in Damascus with suicide bombers. Within 48 hours, two more churches were hit \u2014 one in Aleppo, one in Latakia. Innocent civilians were slaughtered. Christians, once again, were buried for their faith.<\/p>\n And what did Julani do? Nothing. No mourning. No condemnation. He wouldn\u2019t even call the murdered Christians martyrs. Because for Julani, they never mattered. They never belonged to Syria. Julani is not a president \u2014 he\u2019s a warlord with PR.<\/p>\n Since 2011, 90% of Syria\u2019s Christians have already fled \u2014 first under the U.S.-engineered regime-change chaos, then under the boots of Islamists. Now, the few who stayed behind are being hunted in their own churches. No one defends them. No one speaks for them.<\/p>\n The West has moved on.
