Former New York Mayor and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani has sounded the alarm over a \u201cdangerous escalation\u201d by former FBI Director James Comey.<\/p>\n
Giuliani claims Comey\u2019s recent actions, including a cryptic social media post interpreted as a call for President Trump\u2019s assassination, raise serious questions about the influence of Comey\u2019s family within the Department of Justice (DOJ) under Attorney General Pam Bondi.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, Comey posted a now-deleted Instagram photo showing a \u201cshell formation\u201d on a beach that spelled out \u201c86 47.\u201d<\/p>\n
Many, including top Trump administration officials, saw this as a threat to Trump, the 47th president.<\/p>\n
The FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Secret Service launched an immediate investigation, with Secretary Kristi Noem stating that the post was viewed as a \u201cdirect threat\u201d to the President\u2019s life.<\/p>\n
Comey quickly deleted the post and denied any malicious intent.<\/p>\n
Giuliani, a longtime defender of Trump, didn\u2019t hold back in his response.<\/p>\n
\u201cJames Comey posted a message calling for the [assassination] of the 47th president,\u201d Giuliani wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis raises serious concerns about his daughter and son-in-law, both employed under Pam Bondi at DOJ,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Giuliani pointed to Comey\u2019s daughter, Maurene Comey, an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York (SDNY), and her husband, Lucas Issacharoff, an Assistant U.S. Attorney in\u00a0SDNY, as potential sources of concern.<\/p>\n
