For Immediate Release WASHINGTON, D.C<\/strong>.-\u00a0Representative Thomas Massie announces the\u00a0introduction of H.R. 2356, the\u00a0Dual Loyalty Disclosure Act<\/em>. Rep. Massie’s legislation\u00a0amends the\u00a0Federal Election Campaign Act<\/em>\u00a0to require candidates for federal office to disclose both their possession of dual citizenship and\u00a0also the foreign country in which their dual citizenship is held. The\u00a0disclosure of dual citizenship status would appear publicly in the statement of candidacy filed when political candidates seek\u00a0election to federal office.<\/p>\n “Dual citizens elected to the United States Congress should renounce citizenship in all other countries,”\u00a0said Rep. Massie<\/strong>. “At a minimum, they should disclose their citizenship\u00a0in other countries and abstain from votes specifically benefitting those countries. If we are going to continue\u00a0to allow\u00a0Members of Congress\u00a0to acquire and retain citizenship in other\u00a0countries, they should at least be required to disclose to voters all countries of which they consider themselves to be citizens.”<\/p>\n Original cosponsors of Rep.
